What is Yoga?
Yoga is an ancient Indian practice which dates back to around 5000 years ago. The yoga that is commonly practised today in classes involves the connection between the mind, body, and breathing, with the intention of bringing relaxation, strength, flexibility, health and vitality to the body, and promoting a peaceful mind.
Yoga is different from other exercises in that every movement is synchronised with the breath, the inhale and the exhale. The student focuses their concentration on the movement, the breath, and body sensations such as a stretch, and in this way they cultivate mindfulness.
The entire being benefits from this form of exercise in a wide variety of ways.
