It's All about the Yoga

What is Yoga?

Yoga is an ancient Indian practice which dates back to around 5000 years ago. The yoga that is commonly practised today in classes involves the connection between the mind, body, and breathing, with the intention of bringing relaxation, strength, flexibility, health and vitality to the body, and promoting a peaceful mind.

Yoga is different from other exercises in that every movement is synchronised with the breath, the inhale and the exhale. The student focuses their concentration on the movement, the breath, and body sensations such as a stretch, and in this way they cultivate mindfulness.

The entire being benefits from this form of exercise in a wide variety of ways.

The style of yoga that we will practise is suitable for all levels from beginner to experienced. I teach Hatha yoga which consists of a series of yoga postures, and movement with breathing.

Classes will be tailored to suit the students, with suggestions for adapting postures to your ability given.

If you have any questions, or for more information please do not hesitate to contact me.

Yoga is becoming more popular not only as a way to be fit, supple, and strong, but also to maintain emotional and mental health

Studies have shown that benefits to health and wellbeing can occur after a single yoga class, but I would recommend trying yoga for 8 weeks to see how you get on with it.
